- Note:there are many different apartment types available.Larger apartments with
more options,such as full bath or air conditioning can cost an extra ¥20,000+per
month.Apartments in Japan are almost completely unfurnished.
2.HOUSING

a)key money and deposit:
When signing an apartment or house rental agreement,Japanese custom usually requires
renters to pay a one-time lump-sum in addition to monthly rent.Shikikin is a damage
security deposit and may be refunded upon vacating.Reikin is a nonrefundable fee
paid to the landlord.Shikikin and reikin combined usually totals 1-4 months monthly
rent. |
b)University-designated Accommodations for
Overseas Students
University-designated accommodations for overseas students are now available.Damage security deposit (Shikikin) is required.Rents range from ¥20,000 to
22,000(gas,electricity,and water rates are not included).
It is compulsory that foreign students purchase "Comprehensive Renters Insurance
for Foreign Students";the annual premium rate is ¥4,000.
The university equips each accommodation with a desk and chair and Japanese-style
bedding.
All University-designated accommodations are limited to a one-year period of stay. |
3.HEALTH INSURANCE

a)National Health Insurance(compulsory)
The insurance generally covers 70% of all kinds of medical expenses,which means
that patients pay only the remaining 30% at a hospital,clinic or dental office.The
application is accepted at Nagasaki City Hall when students declare their Alien
Registration.Annual premiums are ¥15,300. |
b)Student Accident and Injury Insurance
All students must apply for this insurance covering medical treatment of injuries
sustained in class or during extracurricular activities.The annual premium is
¥800. |
- 4.CLUBS AND SOCIETIES
- This University has many clubs and societies for various activities
such as music, Karate and Yachting. Students on the Japanese Course are free to
join this clubs. Through the clubs you will be able to meet many Japanese, making
your stay here, a meaningful one.
